Waste the Prince of Darkness!

Someone sent me this link about an interview experience at a Microsoft gaming group…  I thought it’s hilarious, and yet fairly appropriate to the type of personalities that you’d more likely to encounter in a gaming division (now that I am in one :))

Oh and i guess playing Ninja Gaiden 2 also make the following even more relevant! hehe.

I hope space travel becomes a reality in my lifetime :)

And it begins with this!  Sponsored by Microsoft Research - http://www.spaceelevatorconference.org/

The conference is held in Redmond.  Clarke is one of my favourite sci-fi authors and the first time I read about the space elevator was when I read his novel 'The Fountain of Paradise' in highschool.  I remember I used to think this is just way too out there until I did some more research into it back then and realized that it is actually something that is possible (although, apart from all sorts of engineering difficulties, there are still things to consider like climatic changes, asteroids/satellite bodies colliding with the elevator etc.).  Still, I filed it away still as fantasy then and never thought of it again.

Imagine my surprise when MS Research actually hosted a talk from a company a few years ago on this same subject.  I forgot who came to speak at that time, but it was cool to there are people out there that think this is actually possible, and are trying to accomplish it.  Now I see the effort is still forging onward - I might go and see whether they did make any breakthroughs (from looking at the site, it doesn't seem so though....)

can you live with 100 things only?

I have already downsized my belongings when I moved into a smaller place 1.5 years ago.  But they are accumulating slightly again :S  Keeping things to a minimum is definitely a good thing.

I like this quote from the article:
"It's not necessarily about the new pots and pans but the idea of the cozy family meals that they will provide. People are finding that their homes are full of stuff, but their lives are littered with unfulfilled promises."
It is hard to separate yourself from things with sentimental value though...  Also, I think people keep certain things because they are defined by what they own, I think those type of things will also be hard to part with...  unless you want to be all mysterious and all :)

when did Jacky Chan start selling Segway scooters?

oh well, it's a good thing though, I want one!  A black one like what Jeff Bridges used in Iron man Wink

high-tech tennis... from Lacoste

Enjoy this nice promotional video from Lacoste on the future of tennis.

The video is brought to you courtesy of Akama Studio - the same studio who did the famous 'Fight for Kisses' tv commercial for Quattro shaver.

btw, Spaces really needs the ability to assign multiple category to an entry ....

Something Good!

A friend just linked this to me.  It's been a long time since I saw this video (the song is remixed, but the music video looks the same as the original)...

Btw, for those of you who likes Utah Saints, they are performing in Seattle @ Studio 7 this Saturday :)

Utah Saints were really ahead of their time, they were one of the first to incorporate other artists samples in their original works.  It's good to see one of their biggest hits now getting popular again.

ASIMO's new achievement!

Walk, run (in circles), go up and down the stairs, and now he can conduct symphonies!   Surprised

Hmm is this for real? :S

If so, that's one major design/engineering oversight....
